Source Naturals Skin Eternal Serum Review

If you’re familiar with me at all then you probably know that in the past I’ve been known to be a sucker for aesthetics. Chic packaging and killer promo images are sometimes all it takes for me to click the buy button. Over years this has led to a few good purchases, like Glossier Boy Brow or any and all of the LULULUN face masks but more times than not I’m usually really let down by impulse aesthetic purchases. Sure maybe the packaging looks good on my vanity or on my IG feed but when it comes to performance the results are usually lacking. This happens because big brands tend to put their focus on branding and building marketing hype not quality ingredients. After learning this the hard way and wasting lots of my hard earned money I’ve started to take a new ingredients based approach to my skincare purchases which is how I was introduced to the Source Naturals Skin Eternal Serum.

Ingredients That Pack A Punch

Now when it comes to looks this serum won’t be winning any awards but as I mentioned before my older and wiser self now pays no attention to branding. The appeal of this product lies solely in its list of powerful ingredients. Three ingredients in particular that I was to focus on Vitamin C-Ester, DMAE and alpha-Lipoic Acid, which are pretty much the golden trinity of anti aging ingredients.

  • Vitamin C-Ester - Powerful antioxidant that brightens skin, tightens and helps to retain skin luminosity. Vitamin C ester is a more stable and potent ascorbic acid the more traditionally utilized form of vit c.
  • DMAE- Anti-aging powerhouse that reduces the appearance of wrinkles and dark circles and helps tighten aging skin.
  • Alpha-Lipoic Acid - Improves skin's texture, helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

If you’ve read any of the books written by Dr. Perricone or are familiar with his brand at all then those 3 ingredients are probably really familiar to you. According to Dr. Perricone those are the only 3 ingredients you need in your routine for healthy ageless skin. His writings on why these ingredients are so good for your skin are very compelling but his products are very much out of my price point; his serums are usually around $99 for 2 oz. Source Naturals Skin Eternal Serum has all 3 of the super ingredients at potent percentages and depending on where you are purchasing from runs around $17-$22 USD for 1.7 oz.

Initial Thoughts and Application Notes

This product is available at wholefoods and other wellness/vitamin shops which are not my typical places for purchasing skincare products so I was very skeptical upon first application. There aren’t even reviews for this product on Reddit, my typical source of product knowledge. But the price was so good I figured I would just try it and if it was a bust I wasn’t out a huge sum of money.

The first thing to mention about initial application is that this stuff has a very strong scent that might be a deterrent for some. The product contains lemon and lavender extract and those ingredients make for a very intense aroma. With that being said after using the product consistently I no longer even notice the smell at all. So If you're using this product and find the smell overwhelming just get through the tough 1 to 2 week period and i’m sure your nose will adjust!

The product has a thick slightly sticky but fluid texture that spreads easily on the skin. The instruction recommends using 2-4 pumps per application but I find 1 pump is more than enough to cover my face and neck. There is no alcohol in this product so note that it takes a few minutes to sink into the skin. However once it dries down it plays well with products being layered over it.

Results

I’ve been using the Skin Eternal Serum for over 9 months now and have gone through 5 bottles. In the beginning I used it twice a day, I’ve since added tretinoin to my routine at night and only use Skin Eternal in the morning. I saw my skin brighten significantly in the first few weeks. The brightening was great but what really made me fall in love with this serum was its ability to fade pigmentation from popped pimples that I thought I was just stuck with. I started to see the fading of those marks within 3 weeks and within 3 months the pigmentation marks were completely gone!

The brightening and faded results were enough to make me a believer. When it comes to the anti-aging benefits the verdict is still out as it it's too early to tell.  But I will say that I see myself re-buying indefinitely and making it a part of my skincare routine long term so maybe in a few years I can write an update on the long term benefits.

I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a more stable Vitamin C serum or anyone who wants to follow the teachings of Dr. Perricone but doesn’t was to drop a hundo on skincare products. Source Natural Skin Eternal Serum is the epitome of high quality ingredients with an affordable and accessible price point.
